Your Gross Profit is a measure of how your business is performing. It is usually expressed as a percentage. This percentage is your profit margin before you pay for other main expenses like light, heat, rent and labour.
To calculate your Gross Profit you must first conduct an opening count which becomes your Opening Stock. It is for example a count of all stock on hand on the premises at the time of starting the gross profit calculation.
Then in order to get your gross profit you must conduct a closing count which will then become your Closing Stock at the end of the gross profit calculation.
Use this Gross Profit Calculator to assist you in your calculations. For more information, take a look at our article on calculating your gross profit.
