The new Crowne Plaza Hotel getting 'wired'
Posted: September 3 2006

drinks industry irelandIs the new Crowne Plaza Hotel at Dublin Airport the most ‘wired’ hotel in Ireland?
The €30 million, two-story, 9,200 square metre conference and event centre is to specialise in the business conferencing market. It has 27 meeting rooms. It has more than six kilometres of fibre-optic cable, 17 built-in 42-inch inter-connected plasma TV screens, 16 drop down projector screens, 14 custom-designed programmable door signage systems, American plug sockets to accommodate US laptops, broadband, wi-fi hot-spots, video conferencing, premium IP telephony-based services, satellite links and a 24/7 in-house AV technician.
All our conference rooms are designed to maximise productivity and creativity,” explained Enda O’Meara, Managing Director of the Crowne Plaza and Express by Holiday Inn, the new €15 million Three Star sister hotel situated jut 50 metres from the Crowne Plaza and due to open next month.
“Conference rooms flooded with natural light; air conditioning, lighting and audio-visual equipment individually control in each room; cutting edge ‘smart’ white boards that react to touch and are linked to the client’s laptop to allow for attention-grabbing Power Point presentations; ergonomically-designed chairs, built-in Bose sound systems and sound-proofed rooms all add to the experience of a state-of-the-art conference.  The attention to this kind of detail in a conference centre is, I believe, unprecedented.”
Christoph Haustein, Director of Sales and Marketing, added, “The technology we buy is considered ‘future proof’ and has been custom-designed specifically for us”.
The new Express by Holiday Inn will feature 114 rooms over three floors. The project will create a total of 50 new hospitality industry jobs.
The Crowne Plaza Dublin and Express By Holiday Inn Airport Hotels are owned by Clontarf Castle Hotel owners Gerry Houlihan and Aidan Crowe.  The expansion plans, along with the extra employment provided, will be a major boost to the hospitality sector, stated the company.
