The 218-strong staff at the Barry
Group, one of Ireland’s leading wholesale and distribution companies
(which recently purchased the Carry-Out Off-Licence chain from GWL),
presented a cheque for €2,265 to Rose O’Dea, Munster Community
Fundraiser at the Irish Cancer Society, to go towards the charity’s
CHAT helpline. CHAT is a dedicated telephone support service where
patients can talk to qualified nurses for their counsel and support.
The money was raised through a series of fun cake bake-offs and coffee mornings held in the Barry
Group’s Mallow headquarters. The Board of Directors of the Group also
donated monies for every member of staff that came to work on the day
dressed in pink.
Now the company’s sights are set on Daffodil.
