In
association with Bombay Sapphire, Design Week 2009 took place
throughout
Ireland recently. The programme of events opened with an exclusive
Irish visit
by acclaimed international designer Thomas Heatherwick, who officially
launched proceedings in Dublin City Centre.
The week-long
schedule of design-focused seminars, talks and features, comprised
nationwide
events in centres around the country including Dublin, Belfast,
Kilkenny,
Louth, Waterford, Carlow and Cork.
At the launch
of the Week, Karen Halpin, Bombay Sapphire, Brand Development Manager
commented, “Bombay
Sapphire began its association with the world of design
in the 1990s when internationally-acclaimed designers first created
their
versions of the ultimate Martini cocktail glass inspired by Bombay
Sapphire.
Twenty-two Martini cocktail glasses have been created to date by some
of the
most high-profile designers in the world. These unique Martini cocktail
glasses
have been showcased in a Bombay Sapphire global advertising campaign
and are
displayed in international design
exhibitions”.
She added,
“Design Week 2009
offers a fantastic and exciting programme of design-led
events, which will cater for all audiences; from those in the design
industry
to accessible design-focused events, from furniture and interiors, to
illustration and jewellery to graphics and everything in
between!”.
