The C&C Group’s takeover of the Tennents brands and
associated assets as well as other assets in Scotland, Northern Ireland and RoI
from InBev UK Limited, InBev Ireland Limited and Brandbrew SA, has been
finalised for €197 million (£180 million) following clearance from the
Competition Authority recently.
As part of the proposed transaction, both parties will also
enter into a 20-year distribution agreement in respect of the exclusive supply
by the C&C Group of certain other beer brands of the ABInBev group
such as Stella Artois and Beck’s in RoI.
The C&C Group is a public limited company incorporated in
Ireland. Under the Bulmers brand, the Group manufactures, markets
and supplies cider in the State.
The business being acquired manufactures, supplies and sells beer
products in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Competition Authority had formed the view that the proposed
acquisition doesn’t raise competition concerns in any markets for goods or
services in the State and that transaction could proceed. A public
version of the full text of the reasons for the Authority’s decision will be
published on the Authority’s website (www.tca.ie) no
later than 16th November 2009 after allowing the parties the opportunity to
request that confidential information be removed from the published version,
stated the CA recently.
