TEN STEPS TO INCREASE BEER SALES

Ten steps to increase your beer sales

  1. With the promise of beer prices increasing, and with the arrival of winter, you may find that your beer sales (and your profits with them) are decreasing. Barkeeper brings you these top ten steps to help you increase your beer sales this winter.

1.Serve your beers and ciders at the correct temperature by ensuring your lines and cold storage areas are well maintained and regularly checked

2.Serve beer and cider in the correct glasses. Train your staff on the appropriate glassware. There is nothing worse than having your favourite drink served in the wrong glass

3.Supervise new staff to ensure they know how to pour pints correctly. Show them how to avoid wastage and how to present a pint properly

4.Have your branded beer taps on display. Newer premises are moving towards stainless steel generic taps but you will almost certainly increase sales by having visible point of sale for those customers making impulse decisions.

5.Advertise new beers and ciders around your bar. There’s no point having the products but not the orders. Use chalkboards, tent cards, and special table menus to inform your customers of new products.

6.Offer samples of new beers and ciders. Use little plastic glasses to allow customers taste your new offering. Its an inexpensive way to introduce them to a new drink

7.Run a “Beer/Cider of the Week” promotions with the support of your brewery. This can yield you some free products while increasing sales.

8.Match your Food Menu with different beers and ciders. We’re all used to food/wine pairings, but why not food/beer pairings? It could become a talking point for your customers.

9.Increase your range of non-alcoholic beers. Make it less of a taboo to order a non-alcoholic beer by showing your support for these products.

10.Create attractive displays of bottled beers in buckets of ice on the counter for added impulse buying opportunities.
